“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.” Ralph Waldo Emerson https://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/ralph_waldo_emerson_106295
You may never realize the power of a statement, comment, or action that may affect others. Sometimes it’s the little things that make the most difference.
Have you ever had an inkling to call someone? You may ask, Why that person? Why that particular time?
You give in to the nudge, the Godwink, and make the call, send the text, or drop a card in the mail. Sometimes the recipient may say, “I was just thinking about you.” Or maybe you will have no idea how your friend received your communication. You may not get a response; that’s okay. The point is that kindness comes in all forms.
It’s such a small world these days. I find it comical and scary how someone you know may have a connection with someone else in your world.
For instance, my husband and I have a friend we eat dinner with regularly. He mentioned he had a condo to sell in Atlanta. As we were walking out the door, I told him about a friend of mine who was a real estate agent in that area. Long story short, he connected with my friend and asked her to represent him. They were successful in this endeavor and blessed to have met. What if I had not mentioned my friend’s agent status? I wasn’t out peddling her services. Think of the missed opportunity for all involved—professionally and personally.
Your next encounter may be someone you’re sitting beside, waiting in line with, or even at the checkout counter. You could say, “Nice hat.” Now I don’t condone giving out empty compliments. But why keep something positive to yourself if it could make someone’s day? There’s a reason you were where you were at that exact time.
Sometimes we need to take the time. You may never know how your smile, statement, or other actions will affect someone else or you. The kindness you bestow on others will create a domino effect. Let’s spread some kindness around.
