We will never forget. Last month I touched on the topic of legacies. I assumed that I would continue with that concept this month because of all the heroes that were affected by the horrific day of 9-11-2001.

As I started brainstorming, “no words” came to mind. I brushed the thought away and continued dumping ideas in my journal. After several days of the “ no words” thought, I finally agreed. There are no words to describe the ache and agony of the horrendous events that occurred that day. There are no words to explain the actions of terrorists. Listening to people relay their personal stories and memories confirmed that I have no words. I believe God is the ultimate healer. I pray that He will continue to bring peace to those affected.

  1. those of us of a certain age remember it well. I heard a reporter saw one third of this ountry was not alive on that day. It is only something in the history books. We never forget.

  2. You’re right Deanna, no words can ever describe the terror of that day! It’s forever imprinted in our minds and we all know exactly where we were when we learned about it! Just horrific!

  3. Deanna, you hit on what we feel. No words are adequate for the horrendous 9-11 tragedy. We continue to pray for victims’ loved ones and for our country.

    1. Jeannie, it has been an emotional day seeing the actual footage of what happened. The stories of the heroes, survivors, families, and eyewitnesses will definitely tug at your heartstrings. Prayer is a must.

  4. Sadly we all can remember where we were on that day and how awful it was to try to understand what was happening! There were truly no words for that event!

  5. That day was horrific and the world cried. What I have never realized is the aftermath of the toxins from the towers killed so many.
I couldn’t agree more with you Deanna- there are no words.

    1. Nancy, technology has brought us stories, health complications, and more that we might never have noticed otherwise. There are still many people, young and old alike, who have put the tragedy of September 11, 2001, out of their minds.

  6. I think the reason we cannot come up with words because There Are No words!! It was pure evil!! As someone else posted I wonder if this is mentioned – at all- in schools.
I went to the flag display at Kennesaw Mt. Every flag – a person. If you get a chance go- it is moving. Check to see how long it will be up.

    1. Sandra, I’m not familiar with the schools’ curriculum these days. I hope it is addressed at an appropriate grade level. I did see someone post the Kennesaw Mountain tribute. I may try to drive over and see it.

  7. We visited the 911 Memorial & Museum in NYC. The visual collections create an unforgettable encounter to describe the attacks, their aftermath, and the people who experienced those events. While there was evil there were also true heroes and patriots whose stories live on. Out of those ashes Americans united for a greater good. Never forget…..

    1. Missy, I look forward to visiting the 911 Memorial and Museum one day. We certainly need to remember the unsung heroes—those who died and those who survived —of that horrific day. It was amazing how this tragedy brought our country together as Americans.
